SCRATCH: My Third Game
SCRATCH: My Third Game
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dress up games! Everyone must of played one once, and if not, everyone must of at least customized their character once. Customization is one of my favorite part of games, and so I made a dress up game!
----------------------------------------------
The story starts with us meeting the main character, Skyler.
She doesn't really want to do anything except stay home and look pretty, and she's trusting you to help choose an outfit for her!
The premise is simple, so lets move on to the code.
----------------------------------------------
Once again, I'll be using another simple piece of code.
I haven't used it much, but the dress-up game relies on it entirely; in order to change between the clothing options, you'd have to press their respective number.
There are 8 categories in total and you can find their respective numbers in the instructions.
If you'd like to submit your design, simply press 'M' to finish the game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This game relies on the 'look' factor much more then other games I have made, I mean, any dress up game would.
Each piece of clothing belongs to one of 14 themes, those being;
-Casual
-PJs
-Pastels
-Formal
-Comfortable (basically casual v2)
-School
-Stripes
-Sport
-Punk
-Spring
-Summer
-Winter
-Autumn
Here are some examples of all of the some outfits put together via theming.
I must admit, the art style is still very simplistic; I am not much of an artist so some may find the designs unappealing or lazy, however I'd argue its simplicity allows everything to click together nicely.
There are 112 clothing in the game, with 14 accessories in each category; with so many possible combinations, your sure to have a fun time coming up with different designs .
Making the background was a fairly simple process, I added a closet, a table, a window, fairly simple things, yet it looked boring. In result, I decided to add a bunch of flowers and petals to make it stand out more.
Regardless of my layering situation, the general process of creating designs was very pleasant, in fact I may return to the game and add even more options.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Before I finish off the blog, I tried adding something else to the game, background music.
Using a website named 'Beepbox' I created a little tune, in my next game I plan on adding more sound effects.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This game probably took the longest to make, which is why this blog was delayed for so long, but I've procrastinating for too long;
I started my 5th game (4th to be published) and I'm almost finished with it, so I may as well finish this blog as well.
Here's the link to the 3rd game I published.

If you want to find it on scratch, it's called 'Dress up the stick-figure'. Made by me, MadamSpades (Scratch user).
