Scratch: My Second Game

 Scratch: My Second Game

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was younger, I enjoyed playing baking/restaurant games, mainly the decoration part.
I remember finding a 'go-girl-games'-like website where certain choices you make end up making unique wedding cakes; Chocolate cake with strawberries would make it resemble a zombie apocalypse, vanilla with chocolate-chips would resemble a more normal wedding-cake.
Though I can't find that game, it was fun, it was one my favorites, and so I decided to make a cake-decorating game. It may not lead to alternate endings, I still enjoy playing it for myself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The story is simple.
The Red stick-figure, who I'll name Vermillion, has finished baking a cake and wants you to decorate it!
I didn't have the proper coding experience to do the whole baking part, so instead I have focused on decorating it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Following dialogue, a simple 'choose' screen is shown to the player.
Each choice has a number corresponding to them, so if choosing a vanilla cake means you have to press 2, you can't press 2 for any other choices such as the one above.

If you want the blue whipped cream, don't press 2, even if it's the 2nd choice.

I was worried players might be confused by that, so I put their corresponding numbers in the corner.
Either way, the game is still simple, there's much more room for 'creativity' then the first, so I hope people would enjoy decorating random cakes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Following the order of the last blog, I should start talking about the art again.
It's a stick-figure game, Vermillion's design isn't complex or anything, he's just a stick-figure. The only remotely interesting thing I have to say about him is that he actually had different versions of himself, 3 in total.

His first design consisted of him wearing a bold orange apron with matching gloves, the apron looked like a dress so I swapped it out with a headband. The orange color blended in with his skin, so I made it beige instead.
I don't think the background is as good as the last one. The oven is in a weird spot, and the labels on the box are weirdly drawn.
However, I do think it can suffice on it's own, it's not to bland or complex, it fits well.
Now lets move on to the main part.

Though there aren't many options, I do enjoy the cake making options.
I personally hope to do a sequel or remake in the future, giving the player more chances to create a much more diverse cake!
I did enjoy drawing it, simple yes, but it was fun to make.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
That concludes my 2nd game, I already finished the background for my 3rd, so I look forward to showing it towards you all.
